Dan Castles, Senior, Football
Dan Castles (Toms River, N.J.) did what he does best on Saturday, catching three touchdown passes in Penn's 35-0 victory over Dartmouth in both school's Ivy League opener. Castles hauled in his first scoring reception in with just nine seconds remaining in the opening quarter to give Penn an early 7-0 lead. His second of the day came at the 5:45 mark of the second quarter when Pat McDermott (Yonkers, N.Y.) hit Castles for a 17-yard strike and a 14-0 edge over the Big Green. The catch capped a 13-play 94 yard drive that ate six minutes, 11 seconds off the clock. Castles' next catch capped a much shorter Penn drive. After a Dartmouth turnover, McDermott hit Castles in stride for the pair's longest connection of the season, 52 yards for the Red and Blue's third and final touch down of the first half. Castles' 145 yards andnine catches were season highs for the senior wide out and his three scores marked the third time in three games he had scored at least one touch down in a game, the only Quaker to accomplish this feat thus far into the season.
