Penn Swim Teams Earn Spots in Mid-Major National Rankings

PHILADELPHIA – After one of the best seasons in Penn women’s swim team history, the Quakers (12-4 overall, 4-3 Ivy League) have been rewarded with recognition on the national level, as they were given a No. 4 spot in the Division I Mid-Major rankings this week. Earning the No. 1 spot was Miami (Ohio), followed by Navy, who Penn beat earlier this season, and Harvard, who beat the Quakers in their first meet of the year. The rankings reflect differences in the teams' best times this season as entered and verified.

The men’s team (9-6 overall, 2-5 Ivy League) also earned a spot on the poll, as they came in 13th out of 25 teams. The mid-major rankings compare institutions that do not benefit from large football and basketball television agreements. Rankings are based on each team’s best dual meet lineup as judged and submitted by participating teams. Rankings are announced four times throughout the season, with the final post-conference rankings coming out on March 6.
