Penn Swimming Programs Make the Grade

PHILADELPHIA - The College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) announced its Fall 2012 Scholar All-America Team honors this past week, with the the men's and women's programs from the University of Pennsylvania making the cut in each.

The men's team finds itself in elite company, as only 64 programs across the country made the grades necessary to garner this award. Penn recorded a team GPA of 3.11 in the fall semester.

On the women's side, 136 teams passed the requirements, with the Quakers earning a GPA of 3.14 last semester.

The Team Scholar All-American awards are presented to collegiate swimming and diving teams who have achieved a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. Penn will have the opportunity to repeat its academic honors a few months down the line, when the CSCAA names its Scholar All-America teams for the Spring 2013 semester.
