New Haven, Conn. - Both the men's and women's swimming teams earned splits in New Haven, Conn. as the Quakers swept the Big Green of Dartmouth and fell to host Yale on Saturday afternoon.
The men's squad topped Dartmouth, 198-102, this afternoon and the women's team followed that effort by outpointing the Big Green, 205-94. Host Yales, sweeping both Penn and Dartmouth, came out on top against the men's team, 181-107, and outswam th Red and Blue women, 199.5-99.5.
The men's 200-yard medley relay team of Teddy Rainaud, Jon Kaufman, Brian Gartner and Kevin Scott won the event with a time of 1:34.50. Kaufman took the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 58.85 seconds, outlasting teammates Alex Silvester (59.40) and Yuchi Zhang (59.69). Scott captured the 50-yard freestyle event with a time of 21.36 seconds. Zhang also won an individual event, capturing the 200-yard breaststroke (2:09.33), followed by teammates Kaufman in second (2:12.19) and MatthewBlaszko in third (2:12.35) in third.
Both the men and women's swim teams will be in the pool again on Jan. 26, racing at Rider. The meet has a 5:30 p.m. start time.
