Philadelphia, Pa. The University of Pennsylvania volleyball team defeated Dartmouth, 3-2, today at The Palestra. Junior Michelle Kauffman led all players with 17 kills in the match.
After dropping the first two games, 30-25 and 30-27, the Quakers (7-8, 2-3)came back to win the next three, going 30-15, 30-27 and 15-7 to close out the victory over the Big Green (4-12, 1-5).
"The team was very disiplined and patient throughout the entire match,” said Head Coach Kerry Carr. “After losing the first two games, they were able to regroup and get their confidence back in order to turn the match around.”
Kauffman added seven total blocks to her 17 kills in the victory.In addition to Kauffman’s play, freshman Laura Black had15 kills,two service aces andseven digs for the Quakers.Junior Cara Thomasoncontributed 13kills,15 digs and five totalblocks. Coming off the bench, sophomore Elizabeth Hursthad 11digs and fellow sophomore RebeccaChangcontributed 8 kills in the victory.
Senior Katie Frett had13 kills for theBig Greenand freshman Kathryn Hirsch added 12 kills.
The Quakers are next in action on Friday, Oct. 22, when they play at Columbia at 7 p.m.
