PHILADELPHIA - Following his third-place finish at the Sunkist Kids Invitational two weekends ago, and on the eve of the college wrestling season, Penn sophomore Rollie Peterkin has earned the No. 7 spot in his weight class in the U.S. Senior Freestyle rankings by TheMat.com, which is the official website of USA Wrestling.

At the national level, Peterkin wrestles at 66 kilograms, or 121 pounds. For Penn, he is the projected starter at 125 pounds.

Peterkin is a former Junior National champion who wrestled in high school at Blair Academy in New Jersey, the top high school wrestling program in the nation. Last year, he was the only freshman to letter for the Quakers, going 17-9 overall with a 6-6 mark in dual meets.

Peterkin and the Quakers begin the 2007-08 season Saturday at the Bearcat Open in Binghamton, N.Y. Their first home match will come Sunday, Nov. 18 when they host the Keystone Classic all day in The Palestra.
