Philadelphia- The city’s six college basketball coaches and their wives will host the American Cancer Society’s Second Annual Coaches vs. Cancer BasketBall, presented by Independence Blue Cross on Saturday, May 7. The black-tie event at the Park Hyatt Philadelphia at the Bellevue will also feature exclusive items in both live and silent auctions.
The Philadelphia Coaches vs. Cancer group of Saint Joseph’s Phil Martelli, Penn’s Fran Dunphy, Villanova’s Jay Wright, Drexel’s Bruiser Flint, La Salle’s John Giannini and Temple’s John Chaney leads the country in fund-raising for this cause. The group has set a goal of one million dollars for this year.
The evening begins at 6:30 p.m. with cocktails and a silent auction. Dinner and dancing begins at 8 p.m.
A live auction will include“experience” items such as a trip to the Final Four, club seats to an Eagles game, a trip to Lance Armstrong’s last Tour de France and a chance to play basketball against the Philadelphia coaches in the Palestra.
The silent auction will feature items from all of Philadelphia’s professional teams, suites for the U2 concert and Disney on Ice, dining and shopping packages and autographed sports memorabilia, to name a few.
Tickets are $ 300 per person, with a 10-person corporate table costing $ 3,500. Advertising and sponsorship opportunities are also available.
