Poria Third, Men's Golf T-4th After Friday's First Round at Ivy Champs

GREENWICH, Conn. – The University of Pennsylvania men’s golf team is tied for fourth place after the first day at the Ivy League Championship. The 54-hole event is taking place on The Stanwich Club’s par-72 course.

Penn shot 302 as a team on Friday, and is tied with Dartmouth behind Harvard (293), Cornell (297) and Yale (298).

Junior Amay Poria was one of just three golfers to finish under par on Friday, his first-round 71 has him third in the field of 40 golfers behind Cornell’s Mike Graboyes (69) and Yale’s Jonathan Lai (70). Sophomore Zareh Kaloustian shot a 75 on Friday and is tied for 14th.

Senior Matt Kern and sophomore Josh Goldenberg both scored for the Quakers on Friday, carding 78 each. They are tied for 25th. Junior Carter Thompson rounded out Penn’s lineup with a first-round 83.

The Championship will continue tomorrow and conclude with a third and final round on Sunday.
