Quakers Fall on Second Day of Penn Tennis Classic

PHILADELPHIA - Six Penn singles competitors and three doubles teams were in action Saturday at the Penn Classic, but all fell on the second day of play.

Unseeded Aubry Wand upset seventh-seed Mike Coleman of Maryland, 6-1, 7-5, to advance to the third round of the Flight B singles, but no other Quaker singles player managed a win.

In Flight A singles, Tas Tobias dropped his match with Radnor's Martin Sayer, 6-2, 6-3; Jimmy Fairbanks fells to Columbia's Mark Clemente, 6-4, 6-4; and Justin Fox lost to Columbia's Jared Drucker, 6-1, 6-4.

In Flight B, fourth-seeded Andy Magnes dropped his match with Columbia's Jake Feldman, 6-4, 7-5, while Jeremy Steglitz fell to Louie-Xavier Lavallee of Maryland 6-3, 7-5.

In doubles action, the third-seeded pair of Brandon O'Gara and Fox fell, 8-2, while Tobias and Fairbanks lost 8-3. Steglitz and John Stetson also fell, 8-4.

The Penn Classic wraps up Sunday afternoon at Levy Tennis Pavilion.
