Quakers Football Players Report to Camp on Thursday

PHILADELPHIA , Pa. – University of Pennsylvania head coach of football Al Bagnoli will officially welcome in his 2008 Quaker football team when players report to campus on Thursday.

The players will go through meetings, complete physicals and check out equipment on Thursday. The team will then hold its first practice of the 2008 season on Friday. The first of three two-a-day practices will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 27 with another two practices on Saturday, Aug. 30 and their final two-a-day workout on Monday, Sept. 1.

Penn, selected to finish fourth in the preseason Ivy League poll, returns 34 letterwinners and 10 starters from a year ago. Four All-Ivy players, junior defensive back Chris Wynn, ­senior linebacker Jay Colabella, senior offensive lineman Chris Kovalcik and senior defensive back Tyson Maugle, also return to don the Red and Blue for the Quakers.

Penn has a school-record seven televised games in 2008 – three nationally - and will open the 2008 campaign hosting Villanova on Saturday, Sept. 20 at 3:30 p.m. Season and single-game tickets are available through Penn’s website at www.pennathletics.com. Tickets are also available at the ticket office located at Weightman Hall on 235 South 33rd Street, or by phone at 215-898-6151. The ticket office is open Monday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the month of August, and 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. starting September 2.
