PHILADELPHIA— Following a pair of top-10 finishes at the Head of the Charles last week, the University of Pennsylvania lightweights look to their own shores for a solid performance, competing at the Head of the Schuylkill on Saturday.
Penn is set to compete at 3:30 p.m. for the 8+ race and 3:50 p.m. for the fours.
At the Head of the Schuylkill last year, the Penn freshmen finished as runner-ups in the eights in a field of 32 boats. The Quakers' 'A' boat completed their home course in a time of 13:28.88. Penn's second boat of frosh finished 13th with a time of 15:19.15.
Last week, the Quakers went north to chilly Boston for the Head of the Charles. Both the fours and varsity 8 crews worked their way to top-10 finishes, with a sixth-place mark for the fours, and the 8+ boat logging a seventh-place finish out of 17 boats.
