Quakers Tied for Sixth at Big 5 Classic

FLOURTOWN, Pa. - Inthe first dayof the Big Five Classic at the Philadelphia Cricket Club, the University of Pennsylvania men's golf team placed sixth.The Quakers are tiedwith Drexel; both teams had scores of 299 in the 14-team tournament. They trail Richmond, which finished Saturday seven strokesahead ofsecond-place Penn State.

Senior Derek Rogers and freshman Michael Blodgett finishedtied foreighth with seven other players.Both shot two over at 73. Junior Sean Barrett is tied for 28th aftershooting 76. Sophomore Nick Ryder finished at six over along with several others, whilesophomore Dean Merrill was seven over and tied for 45th.

The two-day tournament will conclude Sunday.The Quakers are scheduled to tee off beginning at 11:40 a.m.
