PHILADELPHIA – Freshman Rachel Wilson of the University of Pennsylvania track and field team was named HepsTrack Co-Rookie of the Week on Thursday. It is the second weekly honor for Wilson this season.
Although she has only competed in three collegiate meets, Wilson has already made a name for herself in the Red and Blue. Most recently, she broke her own school record in the weight throw at Navy’s Wesley Brown Invitational last Saturday. The rookie thrower upped her own mark with a toss of 17.23 meters, winning the event by over six feet.
Her previous throw of 16.81 meters at the Angry Birds Invitational broke a record that was set by Yinka Oridiya in 2001.
Wilson and the rest of the Quakers will be back in action this weekend at the Villanova Invitational in Staten Island.
