PHILADELPHIA - One day after her team shut down Yale's high-octane offense in a 9-3 win, sophomore Hilary Renna was named the Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week.
In addition, senior Chrissy Muller was named to the Ivy League weekly honor roll.
Renna drew the tough assignment of guarding the Bulldogs' Lauren Taylor, who came into the weekend with 27 goals in seven games. Renna clamped down, allowing just one Taylor goal and anchoring a defense that held Yale (averaging 10.57 goals per game) to just three total.
Muller scored five goals and contributed to two assists to help the Quakers go undefeated on the week. Against Delaware, in a 13-6 victory, she had three goals and an assist. She then tacked on two more goals and an assist against Yale.
Penn will be back in action Saturday when it hosts Cornell at 1 p.m.
