PHILADELPHIA - Sophomore Yulia Rivelis came back from a set down to win her quarterfinal match with top-seeded Preethi Mukundan of Harvard to advance to the semifinal roundof the Cissie Leary Invitational at Penn on Saturday afternoon.
Rivelis beat Mukundan, 3-6, 6-4, 1-0(2) in the quarterfinal roundafter defeating Penn State's Sasha Abraham 6-4, 6-2 in her first match of the day.
Sophomore Julia Koulbitskaya won her first match of the day to advance to the quarterfinal round, defeating Harvard's Elsa O'Riain, 6-2, 6-4. In the quarters, though, she fell to second-seeded Megan Muth of William & Mary in a tough match, 7-6 (3), 7-5.
Also in action for Penn was freshman Alexis Plukas, who fell to Harvard's Melissa Anderson in another tough match, 6-4, 6-7 (7), 1-0(7).
