PHILADELPHIA – Rollie Peterkin was named EIWA Wrestler of the Week for the week ending Feb. 22 after his two wins for Penn over the weekend.
Peterkin, ranked No. 11 at 125 pounds in the NWCA/InterMat poll, defeated No. 13 Brad Pataky of Penn State in the Quakers’ 20-13 win over the No. 24-ranked Nittany Lions. Peterkin started the dual off with bonus points for Penn as he scored a 12-4 major decision over Pataky to propel the Red and Blue to a 4-0 lead.
On Sunday, Peterkin again started the dual with bonus points, racking up a 17-0 tech fall over Lehigh’s John McDonald.
Peterkin, the 2008 EIWA Champion at 125 pounds, finishes the regular season with an 18-4 record, including a 10-4 mark in dual matches. He won the championship at both the 2008 Cliff Keen Invitational and the 2008 Keystone Classic.
The Quakers are off until the 2009 EIWA Championships, held at The Palestra March 7-8.
