STATE COLLEGE - A difficult start after two events at the 2008 NCAA Northeast Regional was too much for Marissa Rosen to overcome, as the lone Penn gymnast at the event finished 13th in the all-around with a score of 37.925.
The sophomore started the day on bars and scored a 9.500. The score, while normally a solid one, was only good for a 39th-place tie at the event -- a compliment to the strength of competition. Rosen then struggled her way through her beam routine, scoring an 8.950.
Rosen moved on to floor, one of her stronger events, and bounced back to score a 9.725 to get back on track.
With one event remaining, it was good a time as any to post her best score of the day -- and Rosen did just that. She finished on vault and scored a 9.750 to tie for 14th.
Georgia won the team title at the event, scoring a 197.775 to advance to the NCAA Championships -- which the Bulldogs will host.
