PHILADELPHIA Penn freshman pitcher Todd Roth was named Ivy League Rookie of the Week on Tuesday. This is the third consecutive week that Roth has earned weekly honors from the Ivy League. He was named pitcher of the week the previous two weeks.
Roth threw his third consecutive complete game on Sunday, beating Dartmouth, 5-1, scattering five hits over seven innings while striking out a career-high 10 batters. Roth surrendered a first inning run and then shut down Dartmouth’s offense for six innings. He allowed just seven base runners all day and only two in the final four innings. Roth lowered his ERA to a miniscule 1.31 for the season.
Roth is now 3-1 in five starts this season. He leads the Quakers with 34.1 innings pitched.
