PHILADELPHIA Collegiate Baseball Newspaper and Louisville Slugger announced their Freshman All-American team on Wednesday. Penn’s Todd Roth was one of 22 starting pitchers in the country to earn the honors.
This honor is another in a long list of postseason awards for the freshman who has already earned Ivy League Rookie of the Year and First-Team honors; Big 5 Co-Pitcher of the Year, Rookie of the Year and All-Big 5 recognition.
The right-hander finished the season witha 6-2 record, 1.98 ERA and 62 strikeouts in 68 1/3 innings pitched. Roth led the Ivy League in ERA, opponents’ batting average and strikeouts. He tossed seven consecutive complete games from March 18-May 5.
