Rudy Wise Named Assistant Men's Basketball Coach

PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania's John R. Rockwell Head Coach of Men's Basketball, Jerome Allen, has announced the addition of Rudy Wise to his staff for the 2010-11 season. Wise comes on as an assistant coach and joins Mike Martin and Dan Leibovitz on Coach Allen's staff.

"It is a privilege for us to have Rudy Wise on staff," said Allen. "He has been successful in a number of walks of life, including basketball. I look forward to having him on the bench with me, and I think he will have a positive impact on our program going forward."

"I am extremely humbled and excited to be a part of this storied program," said Wise. "I look forward to working with Coach Allen and complementing his vision to push this program to new heights."

A native of South Carolina, Wise was a graduate assistant on Jay Wright's staff at Villanova for the 2006-07 season. That season, the Wildcats went 22-11 overall and lost to Kentucky in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.

More recently, Wise spent last summer organizing and operating weekly summer workouts for the Temple men's basketball program and elite high school players in the Philadelphia area, and he also coached in Fran Dunphy's Summer Basketball camps. In the summer of 2007, Wise was a head basketball coach at the Forenex Espana Summer Sports Clinic in Palma, Mallorca.

Wise graduated from Lake Forest College in Illinois in 2003, and played basketball for the Foresters. He also holds a master's degree in Strategic Communications from Villanova.
