Sacramento State Squeezes Past Gymnastics

SACRAMENTO, Calif. – The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team put forth its highest score of the year, but lost to Sacramento State Sunday, 193.925-192.950. Marissa Rosen won the all-around competition with a 39.075.

Penn (11-6) prevailed on the bars (48.250) and beam (48.750), but saw Sacramento State escape with close wins on the vault (48.450-47.850) and floor (48.600-48.100). On the vault, Rosen had the meets highest score (9.750). However, Sacramento State had seven of the top eight scores.

On the bars, Lizzie Lowe had Penn’s highest score with a 9.800. Kimberly Chin (9.700), Rosen (9.650) and Stephanie Navarro (9.625) finished fifth through seventh, respectively.

Rosen tied for the top score on the beam with a 9.825. Stephanie Ortiz and Jordan Brewer tied for fourth with 9.775’s. Rosen tied for first on the floor as well with a 9.850. Sarah Wexler was Penn’s next highest finisher with a 9.775.

Ortiz finished fifth in the all-around with a 38.150.

The Quakers will remain in California for the rest of the week. They face Cal-Berkley and Air Force at Berkley, Friday at 7:30 p.m.
