PHILADELPHIA - The Ivy League has announced its weekly award winners in women's soccer, and University of Pennsylvania freshman midfielder Emily Sands was tabbed as the Ivy League Rookie of the Week.

This is Sands' second time earning the award, as she was also named Rookie of the Week on September 12

Sands earned the award by scoring the lone goal in Penn's 1-0 Ivy League win at Yale on Saturday. Taking a corner kick from Erica Higa at the left top of the goalie box, the freshman beat a defender and powered a left-footed shot inside the far post. With the win, Penn improved to 8-3-2 on the season; the Quakers are 2-2-1 in Ivy League play.

Penn plays its final non-conference game later on Monday, at Army West Point, kicking off with the Black Knights at 5 p.m. On Saturday, the Quakers host Ivy rival Brown at 5 p.m.; prior to that game, they will honor six seniors who will be playing their final home match.
