PHILADELPHIA - The Ivy League has announced its final weekly award winners for 2016 in women's soccer, and University of Pennsylvania freshman midfielder Emily Sands was tabbed as the Ivy League Rookie of the Week.
This is the third time Sands has been so honored this season, and the second time in the last three weeks.
Sands earned the award with a spectacular goal late in the first half of Saturday night's match at Princeton, which allowed the Quakers to tie the Tigers 1-1 in the regular-season finale for both squads.
Sands finished the season tied for the team lead in points (14) and assists (6), and tied for second in goals (4).
As a team, Penn went 9-3-4 overall this season and finished fourth in the Ivy League standings at 2-2-3.
