Ivy League release (PDF)
PHILADELPHIA-The Ivy League has announced its first weekly awards for the 2013 men's lacrosse season, and University of Pennsylvania senior attackman Tim Schwalje has received co-Ivy League Player of the Week honors along with Cornell's Rob Pannell.
Schwalje, who was Penn's leading returning scorer from last year, played a major role in getting the Quakers off on the right foot on Friday night. He scored three goals and set career highs in assists (4) and points (7) to lead Penn over 14th-ranked Duke, 14-9, at Franklin Field. Penn outscored Duke 8-1 in the game's final 26 minutes, and Schwalje had a hand in five of those goals (2 goals, 3 assists).
Junior goalkeeper Brian Feeney was also recognized by the Ivy League for his performance in the Duke win. He made 15 saves in the contest, including 12 after the first quarter (while allowing just four goals in that span).
Penn -- which it ranked 14th in this week's USILA national coaches poll -- returns to action twice this week; the Quakers host local rival Saint Joseph's on Tuesday night at 7 p.m., while on Saturday they travel to Denver to face the 10th-ranked University of Denver at 2 p.m. (4 Eastern).
