CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. – Lisa Sesink-Clee recorded a career-best throw of 45.83 meters in the javelin to headline the Penn women’s track and field team at the Virginia Quad meet on Friday afternoon in Charlottesville, Va.
Sesink-Clee tossed her way to the second-best javelin throw in the Ivy League this season, topped only by teammate Kelsey Hay, with the mark as the Quakers competed in a unique quad meet against Virginia, Columbia and Maryland.
The Quakers bested Columbia but fell to Maryland and the host-Cavaliers in the limited scoring meet.
Sophomore sprinter Taylor McCorkle recorded triple-duty for the Red and Blue on the evening, competing in the 100m, 200m and the 4x100 relay for the day. McCorkle placed second in each individual sprint and helped the relay team to a third-place finish in the 4x1.
Noteworthy performances by Ashley Montgomery and Ella Wurth, who nabbed silver and bronze in the 1,500 and 800 respectively, also aided the Quakers for the evening.
The Red and Blue will return to action tomorrow when they make a second appearance at Lannigan Field for the Lou Onesty/Milton G. Abramson Invitational. Action is set to get underway beginning at 2 p.m.
