PHILADELPHIA - Penn volleyball head coach Kerry Carr has announced the addition of Seth Rochlin to her staff for the 2010 season. Rochlin joins assistant Ryan Goodwin and Carr, as the Quakers look to defend their 2009 Ivy League Championship.
"We are excited to add Seth to our staff for this season, as he is one of the brightest "up-and-coming" coaches out of the Arizona club and high school scene," said Carr. "His energy and passion for the sport is balanced with his knowledge of the logistical and statistical side of the game. He was highly recommended by many different levels of coaches in the field, and we look forward to using his experience immediately in all aspects of his job."
A 2008 graduate of the University of Arizona, Rochlin comes to Penn from Tucson, Arizona, where he most recently coached at Rincon High School.
Rochlin served as the head coach for both the both the men's and women's programs at Rincon since 2008. In his first year at the helm, he was named the region's women's coach of the year, and in 2009 he led the men to a runner-up finish in the 4A/5A Division II Championships. Rochlin started out as an assistant in 2004, shortly after graduating from his alma mater, working with both the men and the women.
While working at Rincon, Rochin attended Arizona and played one season as a member the Wildcats' division III club volleyball team. In addition to playing, he also served as a four-year coach for Arizona's women's club team, one which reached the 2006 Division II championship before losing in the final.
Rochlin has also coached at the club level, leading the Zona Volleyball Club's U18-1 Region women's team during the 2008-09 season and also serving as head coach of the U14 women's team at the Club Cactus Volleyball Club from 2004-2006.
In addition to coaching, Rochlin works as a consultant for Global Solar Energy based in Tucson. He graduated cum laude with a B.S. in Engineering Management from Arizona in 2008 and currently resides in University City.
