Seven Members of the Women's Squash Team Compete at William White

HAVERFORD, Pa. – This past weekend seven members of the University of Pennsylvania women’s squash team competed in the William White Invitational. The Quakers had strong showings from freshmen Kristen Lange and Sydney Scott, who finished third and fifth respectively. Altogether four Quakers finished in the top-eight.

Lange, who was the fourth seed, advanced to the semifinals where she lost to eventual champion and No. 2 ranked player in the world Meredith Quick.

Scott defeated teammate Elizabeth Kern in the opening round and she lost to runner-up Michelle Quibell in the quarterfinals. Britt Hebden also faced a familiar opponent in the opening round, defeating Lauralynn Drury before falling to the three seed, Julia Beaver in the quarters. Caitlin Russell was the only other Quaker to pick up a first round win, downing Sarah West.

In consolation play, Scott, Hebden and Drury all advanced to the semifinals. Scott beat Hebden while Drury lost to Amanda Seibert. In the consolation final, Scott was victorious over Seibert to lock up fifth place.

Penn returns to dual-match action Saturday when they host Williams at 4 p.m.
