PHILADELPHIA – After the University of Pennsylvania gymnastics team fell just short of competing in the 2015 USA Gymnastics Team Finals, juniors Elyse Shenberger and Morgan Venuti qualified for and competed in the Individual Finals on Sunday inside The Palestra.
Making the individual finals, Shenberger and Venuti both earned USAG First-team All-America.Shenberger qualified for the finals on beam and bars, while Venuti qualified on vault and bars.
Finishing in a tie for third place on bars, Shenberger posted a 9.800. It was the fourth time Shenberger had posted a 9.800 on the event this season. Her season and career high came earlier this season versus Temple, scoring a 9.875.
Shenberger set a career high on Sunday on beam, earning a 9.800 for her performance. Her previous career high was a 9.775, a score she posted twice earlier this season. The 9.800 performance placed her fourth overall in the competition on beam.
Competing as an individual on vault and bars, Venuti finished the afternoon with a 9.675 on bars and a 9.6625 on vault.
