Six Wrestlers Compete at Millersville

MILLERSVILLE, Pa. - The University of Pennsylvania sent six wrestlers to Millersville University Saturday to compete in the annual Shorty Hitchcock Memorial Classic.

Among Penn’s wrestlers at the event, sophomore Tyler Blakely finished second in the heavyweight division, Dan Zander battled all the way through the consolation bracket to finish third at 197 pounds, and junior Andrew Valenti fought to a fourth-place finish at the 141 weight class.

The Quakers also had three wrestlers grapple in the 149-pound class: Brian Spangler, Vincent Cina and Jake Hunter. Spangler earned two wins to get into the quarterfinal round before suffering his losses, while Cina lost his opening match, but won three times in the consolations before getting knocked out. Hunter lost each of his matches.
