Softball Alumnae Game Cancelled

PHILADELPHA ­- Softball was supposed to get its first game action at brand-new Penn Park this Saturday for the annual Alumnae Game, but that game has now been cancelled. The Quakers will break in their new softball stadium this Sunday when they host the Penn Invitational Tournament. Wagner and Philadelphia University will be the other teams taking part in this three team invitational.

The tournament will get underway at 10 a.m. Sunday with Penn taking on Philadelphia University in the first game at Penn Park. Immediately following the first game, Penn will take on Wagner at 12:30 p.m. Wagner and Philadelphia University will close out the tournament with a 3 p.m. game.

The Penn Invitational Tournament will be the first of three tournaments to be held at Penn Park this fall. Next weekend, Penn will host the Rocci Pignoli Memorial City 6 Championship (Sept. 30 - Oct. 1) and will close out the fall schedule with the Quaker Fall Classic (Oct. 8).

The 2012 season will begin Friday, March 5 when the Quakers head south for two Spring Break tournaments, the first of which is the UCF Spring Fling Tournament.
