GEORGETOWN, Del. - In the first day of play at the Bash at the Beach, Penn (4-10) fell to Delaware State 2-1 in eight innings and Delaware 8-5 on Friday. The Quakers got quality outings from both Emily Denstedt (3-4) and Lindsey Permar(0-3).

Against Delaware State, the Red and Blue tied the score in the fourthon an RBI single by Julia Cheney that scored Annie Kinsey. The game remained tied through seven inning and went to an international tiebreaker in the eighth. The Blue Hornets scored in the bottom of the inning to win the game. Denstedt was credited with a complete game and allowed just one earned run.

Penn faced off against the Blue Hens for the third time in three days on Friday. The third time looked to be the charm early on for the Quakers. The Red and Blue scored single runs in the second and fifth innings and crossed the plate three times in the third.

Teresa Leyden scored the first run of the fifth on a single by Christina Khosravi. Melissa Haffner and Kim May followed with RBI singles as well.

The Quakers were on top 5-4 heading into the bottom of the sixth when Delaware rallied, scoring four to take an 8-5 lead. Permar pitched a complete game allowing just three earned runs.

Penn out hit the Blue Hens 14-9 and had five players record at least two hits. May and Cheney each went 3-for-4. May knocked in two runs.

The Red and Blue return to action on Saturday against Marist and St. Francis (N.Y.) Game time for the Marist game has been pushed back to 1 p.m. due to the forecasted cold temperatures for the morning.
