Georgetown, Del. - The University of Pennsylvania softball team suffered a tough 2-1 loss to Monmouth this afternoon at the Mizuno/Anderson Bash at the Beach.
The Quakers took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly by Melissa Haffner which scored Steph Reichert, who had led the inning off with a double. Monmouth countered in the top of the sixth inning with a one-out walk followed by a two-run homerun to take the 2-1 lead.
Sophomore Lindsey Permar went 5.2 innings with six strikeouts in the loss, while freshman Ann Ferracance threw 1.1 innings with two strikeouts in relief.
