PHILADELPHIA – The National Fastpitch Coaches Association announced its 2014 Division I All-Region Teams and the University of Pennsylvania’s freshman outfielder Leah Allen was named to the Mid-Atlantic Region Second Team. The Woodbine native is the seventh Quaker in program history to be recognized by the NFCA. Allen is also the first freshman in program history to earn an All-Region honor.

Unanimously named the 2014 Rookie of the Year, Allen was also unanimously named first-team All-Ivy and became the fourth Quaker to earn the award. It was the first time since 2011 that the award was a unanimous decision.
The freshman outfielder finished the season hitting .383. Along with a League-best 13 home runs and 43 RBI, Allen’s numbers set new single-season marks for Penn in each category. Allen also led the League with a .759 slugging percentage which ranks among the nation’s leaders. In Ivy League play, the freshman outfielder batted .458 with a slugging percentage of 1.051. Ten of her home runs were during conference contests. Throughout the season, Allen was named Rookie of the Week three times and also shared the title of Player of the Week on March 18.
