Georgetown, Del. - The University of Pennsylvania softball team was shutout by host Delaware State, 3-0, at the Mizuno/Anderson Bash at the Beach this afternoon.
After four scoreless innings, Delaware State put up three runs on four hits and two costly Penn errors. The Red and Blue threatened in the bottom of the sixth inning as Teresa Leyden led off with a singles to left field. Pinch runner Kim Le advance to third on a two-out single by Annie Kinsey, but the Quakers were unable to push the run across the plate.
The Quakers' bats were quiet managing only three hits on the day, while Delaware State banged out seven hits. All of Delaware State's runs were unearned.
Penn continues action tomorrow at the Mizuno/Anderson Bash at the Beach.
