Lafayette get one on a fielder’s choice in the top of the third to keep it close, but the Quakers added to more runs in the home half to extend their lead to 4-1. Trying the get the out at home, the Leopards were unsuccessful in their attempt, allowing sophomore Vera Barnwell to score the first of the inning. Freshman Rachell Cullen brought in the second with a sac fly to left field.

In the bottom of the fourth, sophomore Leah Allen hit her third home run of the season for a four-run cushion and 5-1 lead.

However, the four-run lead proved to be not enough as Lafayette went on to score eight runs in the top of the seventh for the Leopards’ first lead of the day. The Red and Blue went down in order and Lafayette notched their second win of the season, 9-5.

LP: Kristyn Marinelli (0-7), 2.2 IP, 10 H, 6 ER, 2 BB, 0 K

Penn was once again on the board first in the bottom of the first. With bases loaded and no outs, Joyner knocked the first run across home with a sac fly to left center. Sophomore Lainey Dorris added one of her own, flying out to right. Freshman Katie Petroski added a third run with an RBI single to shortstop.

Three more were added to the board in the bottom of the second for a 6-0 lead. Allen brought the first two in with a single to right field and Joyner added the third with a single of her own.

Lafayette cracked the board in the top of the third, scoring two after back-to-back singles up the middle. It was all the Leopards would get though as senior Alexis Borden relieved junior Amanda Gisonni in the circle and struck out the next two batters.

Dorris started the bottom of the fourth off with a double to deep right center. Dorris would finally move to third when freshman Hayley Metcalf dropped a hit right over the third baseman. After Turchin was hit by a pitch, the Quakers loaded the bases and Barnwell came to the plate with two outs. Barnwell would reach first and advance to second on an error by shortstop and two came across home. With a double to center field, Allen drove in her fourth and fifth RBI of the day, giving the Red and Blue a 10-2 lead.

Lafayette continued to battle and scored two more runs, one in the fifth and sixth, but three straight outs in the top of the seventh ended the game.
