PHILADELPHIA - Riding a six-game win-streak, the Penn softball team travels to Temple Wednesday for a midweek doubleheader on Ambler Field. The first game is set to start at 3 p.m.
The Quakers now own a 9-12 overall record and are 4-0 in the Ivy League.
Last Week in Review: Penn comes off a perfect week, in which the Quakers swept La Salle (9-6 and 6-4) and Ivy foes Brown (6-2 and 5-0) and Yale (5-4 and 2-0) to be the only team in the League to go 4-0 on opening weekend.
Highlights of the Week: Freshman Brooke Coloma's walk-off grand slam with two outs in the bottom of the seventh gave Penn a 6-2 win over Brown in their first game. Junior Taylor Tieman threw a one-hit gem in the nightcap as Penn won 5-0. She also threw a complete game shutout in Penn's 2-0 win over Yale.
Players of the Week: Tieman and Coloma were named Pitcher and Rookie of the Week, respectively, by the Ivy League for their performance in Penn's six straight wins. For the full Ivy release click here.
Luck Six?: Of Penn's 74 runs scored this season, 28 of them have come in the sixth inning.
.300 Club: Leading the team with the bats, Coloma (.361), Keiko Uraguchi (.339), Jessica Arneson (.324), Justine Payne (.317), and Tieman (.308) are all hitting above .300.
In the Circle: Tieman leads the pitching staff with a 4-1 record and 1.25 ERA. Sophomore Chelsea Ott (2-4) owns a 2.41 ERA, but has received a no-decision in her last three outings.
Owl Outlook: Temple improved to 10-17 overall and 2-2 in Atlantic 10 play with its sweep of St. Bonaventure (8-0 and 8-3) last Friday. Senior Danielle Fagan earned A10 Player of the Week honors and leads the team with a .313 batting average, including four home runs, 21 RBI, and 11 runs scored. Kristen Marris (8-7) pilots the pitchers with a 2.71 ERA with 82 strikeouts in 98.0 innings of work.
Last Meeting: On April 8, 2009 Temple swept the Quakers, 7-2 and 7-1, on Warren Field.
