PHILADELPHIA - The Penn softball team will be at cross-town rival La Salle on Wednesday for a doubleheader with the Explorers with action beginning at 3 p.m. The Quakers are currently 5-17-1 overall and 1-3 in the Ivy League after their first Ivy weekend, while the Explorers are 3-13.
The Quaker offense is led by Alisha Prystowsky who had a stellar week at the plate. The sophomore went 9-for-17 over Penn’s 6 games for a .529 batting average this pastweek. Prystowsky had a three run homer in Penn’s 8-0 win over Dartmouth, followed by a solo home run versus Harvard. She currently leads the team in batting average (.355), slugging percentage (.529) and runs (15). Jamie Boccanfuso recorded a hit in every one of Penn’s six games over the week, including two doubles. The freshmen currently leads the team in hits (24) and RBI (14) for a .324 batting average and .392 slugging percentage. Keiko Uraguchi is the final Quaker to break the .300 batting average threshold with a .329 average with her first triple in Penn's 1-1 tie with Lehigh.
The Explorer offense has three players batting over .250, with Ali Shepard and Gina Massaro both with a team-high .267 batting average. In the pitchingcircle,La Salle's top pitcherhas a 1.63 ERA with the most inning's pitched, but theleast amount of earned runs.
