Softball Welcomes Six in Class of 2017

PHILADELPHIA – Six players will join the University of Pennsylvania’s softball team for the 2014 season, head coach Leslie King announced today. Leah Allen, Courtney Cuzick, Lainey Dorris, Sydney Kranzmann, Alexis Sargent, and Cedar Slovacek will join the defending Ivy League champions as members of the Class of 2017.

“We are very excited about the Class of 2017,” said King, who coached her team to a program-first NCAA Tournament berth last season. “This class has a nice balance of pitching, power hitting, and speed.”

The Quakers had much to celebrate last season with the program’s second Ivy League title and first appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Red and Blue finished their season 30-20 overall and 16-4 in the Ivy League, playing a pair of nationally-televised games on ESPN in the national tournament.

Despite graduating seven seniors, the Quakers are looking ahead to another successful season.

“The incoming athletes have all played at a high level and should be able to step right in where the team needs them,” King said. “They are a dynamic group that has already developed great chemistry, and we are looking forward to seeing the impact they make.”
