Softball's Mauro Named CoSIDA Academic All-America District II

PHILADELPHIA – Penn softball pitcher Olivia Mauro was named CoSIDA Academic All-America District II First-Team on Thursday. Mauro is one of four Ivy League pitchers to earn the honors and the only junior.

In 2006, Mauro went 5-5 with a team-best 3.75 ERA. The New York City native pitched 102.2 innings in 23 appearances, including three complete games. Mauro finished second on the team with 38 strikeouts. Enrolled in the Wharton School, Mauro carried an impressive 3.92 GPA in Finance and Management.

District II covers Delaware, the District of Columbia, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. Athletes with at least sophomore standing and a 3.20 GPA are eligible for consideration for the CoSIDA Academic honor. Awards are nominated and voted on by collegiate sports information directors. The first-team honorees are now eligible for Academic All-America honors, which will be announced later this month.
