PHILADELPHIA--Junior Emma Spiro earned her second consecutive Ivy League honors of the season for her defensive effort at Harvard. Last week she was recognized on offense against Columbia.
Spiro had one of the most complete games of her career on Saturday at Harvard, dominating in every aspect of the game. She won five draw controls and in between scoring a team-leading four goals, she held the prolific Jess Halpern scoreless. Harvard’s attacker had been averaging 3.2 goals per game and took just one shot in the entire contest. Spiro also pressured her into four turnovers. Spiro is the team’s third leading scorer this season and has come away with an impressive 36 draws, helping her team hold a .621 win percentage on the draw. Her efforts on defense have helped No. 3 Penn solidfy the nation’s lowest goals-against average and continue the 10-0 undefeated streak.
Spiro and the No. 2 Quakers next host No. 15 Dartmouth at Franklin Field on Saturday, April 11 at noon.
