Sprint Football Announces 2011 Schedule

2011 Sprint Football Schedule

PHILADELPHIA - Sprint Football has announced its upcoming schedule for the 2011 season. The 2010 CSFL Co-Champions and Ivy League Champions will have five home games at Franklin Field during the 2011 season. The Quakers will begin the season with the annual Alumni game on Saturday, September 10 at noon at Franklin Field.

After the Alumni game, Penn will play five straight home games at Franklin Field. The season officially gets underway Friday, September 16 against Princeton in what will be a non-conference game for the two schools. On September 23, Penn will host Navy in the Allegiance Bowl.

After a bye week, the Quakers will host games on October 7, 14, and 21 against Post, Mansfield, and Cornell respectively. Post will be a non-league matchup, while Mansfield and Cornell will be league games for Penn.

After the five consecutive home dates, Penn will be on the road for the final two games of the season. On October 28, Penn will take on Army and on November 4 the Quakers will conclude the 2011 season with the league game against Princeton.

With the exception of the Alumni game, all games will be held on Friday nights at 7 p.m.

Despite the graduation of 14 players, 13 of which were named to the All-CSFL Team last season, the Quakers still return 12 players who earned All-CSFL Honors from a year ago.

Heading the list of returning players are two first-team All-CSFL Returnees, Whit Shaw and Anthony DiBella. Shaw led the CSFL in receiving yards and was second in receptions. He averaged nearly 147 All-Purpose yards per game in 2010. He is also the programs All-Time leading receiver after two seasons at Penn. DiBello recorded 33 tackles from his defensive line position, seven of which came for a loss, including two sacks. He also forced three fumbles and had one interception in 2010.

Also returning will be Quarterback Todd Busler, who earned second-team All-CSFL Honors. Busler threw for 1,031 yards last season, which was the fourth highest total for a season in Penn history. He is also Penn's All-Time leader in career passing yardage heading into his senior season.
