PHILADELPHIA – The University of Pennsylvania sprint football team announced its 2015 schedule, highlighted by three home games, along with the annual Alumni Game prior to the kickoff of the season.
This upcoming season’s Alumni game will take place in Penn Park this season and will feature former Quaker sprint football greats, against the current team. The annual game will take place a week after Penn begins its season with a scrimmage versus a newly minted sprint football program in Chestnut Hill College.
Penn will begin its regular season, and league play, at Franklin Field on Saturday, Sept. 19 versus Franklin Pierce. In the two teams’ last meeting, Penn downed Franklin Pierce in the waning minutes, coming back for a thrilling 14-7 win.
After opening at home, the Quakers will then hit the road, playing three straight road games, starting with Post on Sept. 26, followed by 2014 CSFL champion Navy in Annapolis, Md. on Oct. 2. The Midshipmen and the Quakers will both be ready for this critical league match up after Navy escaped Philadelphia with a win last season, barely edging Penn, 21-19. The following week on Oct. 9, Ivy League opponent Cornell hosts Penn in Ithaca, N.Y.
Penn returns to Franklin Field from its stretch of road games, to face Mansfield on Oct. 16. Last season Penn scored a comeback, 14-13, win over the Mountaineers on ESPN3.
Traveling for the final time, the Quakers will head to West Point to face Army on Oct. 23, before hosting Ivy rival Princeton in the final game of the season on Oct. 30.
