Sprint Football Hosts Annual Alumni Game Saturday

PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania sprint football team and head coach Bill Wagner will kick off their 2013season on Saturday with the program's annual Alumni Game. Kickoff is slated for noon on Franklin Field.

Entering his 44th season at the helm of the program, Coach Wagner will get his first chance to see this year'ssquad in action as they prepare for the 2013 season.

After the game, all alumni participants, current student-athletes and coaches, and other supportersin attendance will get the chance to enjoy the postgame barbeque during the networking event.

Last season's contest ended in a 20-0 victory for the alumni side. This season may not be any easier for the current players, as the face of the program for the past four seasons --Whit Shaw-- leads the alumni squad on Saturday. The current Quakers will look toward star running back Mike Beamish and standout freshman Robert Diorio in order to get back into the win column in this annual tussle.

The alumni game serves as the team's final tune-up before the Red and Blue's season opener at Army on Sept. 13. That game will kick off at 7 p.m. in West Point, N.Y.
