PHILADELPHIA - For the second time in three weeks, Stephen Baker has been named Ivy League Rookie of the Week.
Baker played a big role in No. 22 Penn's 3-1 win at Georgetown on Sunday, scoring twice in the second half to go with an assist as the Quakers completed the comeback. He netted the game-winner in the 55th minute just 2:31 after Penn tied the match. He was the finishing touch on a nice combination play started by Travis Cantrell and Aaron Ross. In the waning moments, Baker added insurance on a breakaway score in the 83rd minute to give Penn a cushion en route to its fifth win of the season.
Baker has a team-high six goals for the Quakers, and also leads the club with 14 points. His six scores already in 2010 match the individual high from the entire 2009 season. He has two multi-goal games and a pair of game-winners.
Cantrell was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll after his weekend performance. On Sunday, he had a goal and an assist for his best performance as a collegian in two seasons.
The Red and Blue (5-1-0) head to Princeton over the weekend for a pair of games. Up first is Adelphi (Sept. 24, 5 p.m.) before a Sunday matinee with Richmond at 1 p.m.
