PHILADELPHIA - The Ivy League has announced its inaugural weekly award winners in women's soccer, and University of Pennsylvania freshman forward Sasha Stephens has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week.
Stephens earned the award after scoring twice in her collegiate debut on Sunday, helping the Quakers defeat Seton Hall 3-1 at Rhodes Field. Stephens scored Penn's second and third goals, in both cases giving the host Quakers a two-goal cushion. Sunday's match was Penn's first under new head coach Nicole Van Dyke.
Penn is at home two more times this weekend, hosting Temple on Friday at 5 p.m. and Mount St. Mary's on Sunday at 1 p.m. Admission is free to both games at Rhodes Field, and if you can't make it out to the game you can watch them live on the Ivy League Digital Network.
