PHILADELPHIA – For the second consecutive week, Sydney Stipanovich of the University of Pennsylvania women’s basketball team was named Ivy League Co-Player of the Week. In addition, the junior forward was also named the Big 5 Player of the Week for the first time this season.
Stipanovich was a vital part of Penn’s 78-50 win over Wagner last Monday afternoon at The Palestra. Two days after scoring a season-high 27 points against Drexel, Stipanovich poured in 18 points and grabbed 12 rebounds in the win over the Seahawks. She also dished out a pair of assists, and recorded two blocks.
Overall, Stipanovich now has three double-doubles this season and has grabbed at least nine rebounds in a game on six occasions. In addition, she currently ranks third in the Ivy League in rebounds per game (9.1), third in blocks per contest (2.3) and eighth in points per game (14.1).
Stipanovich and the rest of the Quakers will be back in action on Thursday, as they travel to take on BYU-Hawaii at 8 p.m.
