MORGANTOWN, W.V. – The University of Pennsylvania gymnastics squad sent one of its members, co-captain Kirsten Strausbaugh, to the Morgantown NCAA regional championship on Saturday night. The senior competed as an all-around competitor totaling a 37.525 and placing 17th overall.

Unfortunately only the top two all-around gymnasts advance to the NCAA championships in Los Angeles in a couple of weeks. Strausbaugh did perform well on vault, scoring a 9.650. She added a 9.550 on beam and highlighted her day with a 9.700 of floor as well.

Strausbaugh becomes just the second gymnast in Penn history to qualify for the NCAA regionals, joining Emily Petkun ('06) who qualified in the all-around from 2004-06. The entire Quakers team will be back in action for their final meet of the season from April 12-14 in Shreveport, La. The Red and Blue will be competing in the USAG Collegiate Nationals with the team preliminary round on Friday, team finals on Saturday and individual finals on Sunday.
