PHILADELPHIA - Adding to the Penn Football gameday experience, Penn students will now pass through some of the most nostalgic entryways in all of college football.
The new permanent student entrance is at Gate SB - which is just to the right of the old entrance and under the South Street archways - one of the defining characteristics for the nation's oldest collegiate football stadium.
In addition to providing easier entry and exit access to the student sections in the South stands, Penn students will now enter through the same gates that help make Franklin Field one of the most historic facilities in the country.
The regular ticketed entrance will also move from the SE entrance to SC.
As an added bonus this year, the Penn football gameday experience also includes the Heisman and Outland trophies - which have been given to the school in recent years. In both cases, the trophies are named after men who played and/or coached at the University of Pennsylvania.
Both trophies will be on display beginning three hours before home football games in the George A Weiss Pavilion atrium, located outside the Northwest corner of Franklin Field. They will be on display until halftime of each game.
Also on display, is the newly unveiled Chuck Bednarik statue. The statue, which honors one of the greatest to ever wear the Red and Blue, is located inside Gate 2 on the North side of Franklin Field, and will be complemented by a collage honoring the history of the Philadelphia Eagles during their time playing at Franklin Field (1958-70). Bednarik is a former No. 1 NFL Draft pick and a member of the Penn, College and NFL Halls of Fame.
