PHILADELPHIA - The University of Pennsylvania women's rowing team had a successful day on the Schuylkill River, competing in the Navy Day Regatta to kick off the fall portion of its season. The head race covered three miles and finished near Boathouse Row on Saturday morning.
In the Women's Open/Collegiate 8+, Penn's A boat took first in a field of 26 boats, clocking 14:21.77, while Penn's B boat was fourth in the field at 15:03.04.
In the Women's Collegiate JV 8+, Penn's A boat was first out of 17 boats in a time of 14:38.13. Penn's B boat was fifth (15:28.78), while Penn's C boat was sixth (15:36.93).
In the Women's Collegiate 4+, Penn earned the top two spots as the A boat was first in 15:43.50 and the B boat was second in 15:48.47. Penn's C boat took sixth place in the field of 23 boats with a time of 16:35.60.
In the Women's Collegiate Frosh/Novice 8+, Penn was seventh out of 16 boats with a time of 17:22.06.
In the Women's Open 2-, Penn took the top two spots in 16:25.60 and 16:49.32.
Penn returns to action next Sunday at the prestigious Head of the Charles Regatta in Boston.
