Swanson Finished 33rd in 1650 Freestyle

INDIANAPOLIS – Penn freshman Chris Swanson closed out his inaugural appearance at the NCAA Division I Men’s Swimming and Diving Championships on Saturday by taking part in the 1650 Freestyle. Swanson won the Ivy League title and set a Penn school record in the event earlier this month, completing the race in 15:02.11.

Without the chance to taper and prepare for the NCAA Championships the way he did for the Ivy League meet, Swanson came up short of his Ivy-best pace on Saturday, touching in 15:12.85. That time was good for 33rd nationally.

Holder of three school records after his freshman season in the 500, 1000 and 1650 Freestyles, Swanson will look to drop those times further and make his second trip to the NCAA Championships when he suits up the for the Red and Blue next fall.
